Activity Idea: Presidency Pedicures
I thought this idea was fun for Activity Days or Young Women. And hey - get yourself a free pedicure out of the deal!
Thanks to Laurie Farmer for sharing the following idea with us:
I create a tag that says:
"Whistle while you work....on your Personal Progress"
I have a box of "Whistle Pops" to attach the tag to.
The thought is about leaders being goal setters with a story about boys driving without a map and a thought from President Lee that says:
“It is difficult to follow a leader who isn't going anywhere...so WHISTLE while you WORK on your personal progress and go somewhere, have a map and a destination.”
I do one value each month and run off Value Experience sheets each week. There are 6 sheets and then one project planning page. I briefly talk about the experiences I hand out for the week to get them excited about doing it. It makes it seem easier; just complete this sheet and you are done with one goal.
The thoughts I used in the past were from the November 2006 New Era. It was a great article on Personal Progress titled Five Reasons to Love Personal Progress. I did one section each week, like 3 paragraphs. You'll see that it makes sense where to break it up. It lasted for quite awhile and is great for Personal Progress.
Ever feel like your girls forget to follow thru and finish a goal? This little form can be handed out to the girls to write in the value and goal number and what they need to do to follow through to completion. Nice reminder to keep them on track!
This is a full program for teaching the youth the importance of temple work. Well-narrated and very moving, this is appropriate for conducting at the chapel or at a home. You'll need a narrator and some members of the ward to play their parts, but I think the impact of this program can be significant.
One helpful sister shares her ward's plan for keeping the Young Women motivated and on track for their Personal Progress. The plan involves parties! FUN!
This lesson plan was created to help teach Young Women how to follow in the footsteps of the Savior. This well-thought through lesson plan includes music, decorations, and other ideas.
Poster for tracking personal progress towards "Standing as a Witness of God." Use it in the room where your Young Women meet or hand them out to the girls to track their progress individually.
Can your Young Men and Young Women "stump" the bishop? Fun, trivia-style game that everyone will enjoy. This really makes the scriptures come alive in an entertaining and engaging way.
This lesson was used for a combined Young Women/Young Men lesson to help them become excited and prepare for General Conference. Could be used for seminary as well.
