Hi everyone! I'm new to this list but I have used other internet forums for callings I've previously held and found them very helpful. I'm counting on the same results from this one. I'm a 52 year old empty nester who was recently released from a stake RS calling. I've been called to serve as a nursery coordinator in our rapidly growing ward. There is one other sister called to this position as well, and we are suppose to be getting four additional people called to assist us. The long term plan is to rotate everyother Sunday so that we have one coordinator and two helpers in the nursery each week. We're not sure how long the staffing will take, so in the meantime it's just us every week. We have a lot of new little ones moving into the ward and naturally they are a little hesitant to want to come into the nursery. It's been 25 years since I've served in the nursery and I do need a little help with some ideas. I'm looking for ways to entice the little ones to want to stay in the nursery with us when they first arrive AND for ways to keep them entertained for the entire 2 hours we're in there. We have some toys that they play with, although they really need to be updated and refurbished, but it's next to impossible to keep them still long enough to really do any kind of a lesson. The most quiet time is snack time, but then they are ready for more activity after that. Any new ideas you can share would be appreciated.
Thanks
