Man Gets One Wish From God

A man was walking along a beach alone in San Diego early one morning and he saw the clouds part and the sky open up. A bright light shone out and a voice was heard saying "You have lived a good life and as a reward, I will grant you one wish".

The man was thrilled and in his excitement he asked, "God, what I would really love is a highway from here to Hawaii so that I could drive from San Diego, California all the way to Hawaii any time I want."

After a brief pause the voice came back "I am a little disappointed. This is a high order. I mean, I can do it but just think of the material involved. Think of the support beams going from the surface all the way to the bottom of the ocean alone and how many it would take to stretch the distance from here all the way to half way across the Pacific Ocean. I am going to give you a moment and think again of a more meaningful and less materialistic wish".

The man understood and after some thought he asked, "God, in that case, please give me the power to understand women. I have been married twice and I have had a daughter and I still cannot understand how women think. I want to have the power to understand why they do what they do and say what they say. What could the mean, for example, when they say things like 'if you do not know, I will not tell you'."

After a brief pause, God said, "do you want that highway one lane or two?"
